Snow White, One Magic Kiss Opening Weekend

It’s opening week-end! Snow White, One Magic Kiss! An original play by Donna Marie Swajeski.

We are excited to announce that this is the first show directed by Kenn Koubek, who originally started at the theatre in 2008 in a production of Tom Sawyer as a towns person and has since gone on to play such characters as The Cowardly Lion, Captain Hook, Bert the Chimney Sweep, Shrek, Scrooge, Agatha Trunchbull, King Julien, Willy Wonka, Daddy Warbucks, an eccentric party planner and many more and can now add Magic Mirror to that list!

In addition to his acting and directing, Kenn developed some fun new technology that you’ll see on display on stage and around the theatre. The show features an animated cartoon puppet that is performed live on stage. The effect was inspired by modern effects used in theme parks and Broadway shows.

To originally promote the show Kenn created an Augmented Reality Experience where someone can scan a QR code and then point a smart phone at a flat surface to see a 2.5D world of Snow White that comes to life when users tap their screen or physically move their phone close to the objects on the screen. You can see a Fox and squirrel scurry about, see a light on at the dwarfs’ cottage or see Snow White dream about her Handsome Prince.

You can start using the AR technology the minute you enter the theatrehouse. “We want to entertain guests the moment they pass through our doors” says Kenn.

Also, using augmented reality, we are turning our program cover into a 3D souvenir using smart phones!
